We fell in love with jewellery designer Lee Renee as soon as we saw her super cute pineapple ring with a green Agate stone. Although we love our big bling in the Skinnydip studio we all agree that a delicate piece of jewellery is perfection and creates a statement in every situation. With matching pieces available for a selection of styles its hard not to create a never ending wish list.
North London based jewellery designer Lee Renee is definitely one to watch. After leaving her job in advertising to start her own brand in 2012, Lee's hand made jewellery collection is a beautiful mix of ancient inspired artefacts with childhood memories. Her fashion forward fine jewellery line adds a playful touch to any outfit in the most sophisticated way.
The fashion pack have already caught on to Lee's intricate jewels, having been featured in mags ranging from Vogue, Sunday Times Style, ES Magazine and Instyle. We recommend getting ahead of the game and snapping up a piece of jewellery now because this girl is going places...
We caught up with the talented designer, check out the interview below:
Who are you and what do you do?
I'm Lee Renee, I'm a jewellery designer/maker and I make fashion-forward fine jewellery - my new collection is called 'Star-crossed lovers' and features dark romantic elements - I love jewellery with a story behind it and this collection really let me play with the theme.
What influences your work?
Childhood memories, ancient civilisations, the weird and the wonderful...everything I see, do, touch and taste really.
How would you describe the space that you work in?
I live and work in North London, my studio overlooks a park so its nice to look out of and take a breather every once in a while when the day gets too hectic.
How would you sum up a Lee Renee girl?
A self-assured, fun to be around girl with a big heart and ever bigger brain, who's at ease in her own skin, knows her own style but likes to play with her image and sees fashion and accessorising as a way of communicating to the world who she is and what she's all about.
What is keeping you busy at the moment?
I'm making an exclusive range of jewellery for a lingerie brand (can't say anymore but its very exciting!), making a big wholesale order for a shop in Singapore plus I'm designing some new inter-seasonal pieces for Lee Renee.
What is your most treasured possession?
My Nan's diamond engagement ring - its a really unusual art deco rectangle design and knowing she wore it everyday make me feel close to her.
What is your favourite piece from your current collection?
My Romeo & Juliet stacking rings - I feel naked without them.
What piece of jewellery could you not live without?
I'm a rings and earrings girl - pile them high I say. I read somewhere that wearing diamond earrings make people focus on your mouth and what you're saying more when you look at them...don't know if its true but I need very little encouragement to accessorise with diamonds so I believe it!
If you were invisible for a day you would...
Wander over the the Victoria & Albert Museum and try on all the jewellery and touch all the sculptures - night or day its the most magical of spaces and I always come out feeling awe-struck and inspired.
We know by now you are totally hooked on Lee Renee jewellery, head over to her website to check out the whole collection. Believe us, its totally worth it!
