With the Meta Gala coming up on the 1st May, we thought it was only right to flick through our favourite looks from past years to raise our outfit expectations for 2023.
Kendall & Kylie Jenner
Starting off strong with the iconic Jenner duo in 2019. This year Kendall and Kylie’s dresses were both designed by Versace and it’s safe to say they nailed the camp theme with flying colours (no pun intended). From Kendall’s orange feathers to Kylie’s matching purple wig, this look will definitely be remembered in Met Gala history!
Kim Kardashian
It wouldn’t be a blog post about the Met Gala unless we mentioned at least one other Kardashian so here we have Kim’s most recent look from 2022. After much speculation and persuasion skills from ‘momager’ Kris Jenner, Kim walked the red carpet in a dress famously worn by Marilyn Monroe. This stunning dress (designed by Bob Mackie) along with her platinum blonde hair would’ve made Marilyn proud and screamed American fashionista.
Zendaya
Another look from 2019 that deserves some appreciation was by Zendaya. It was simply magical, with the colour changing dress and literal performance by her and her stylist Law Roach, it truly gave Lily James a run for her money. The dress was designed by Tommy Hilfiger and was definitely voted favourite look by the Disney fans.
Blake Lively
Ryan’s face really says it all. Blake Lively never fails to impress year after year however, last year’s Met look was our personal favourite. Her dress was designed by Versace, transitioned from rose gold to blue on the red carpet and was designed to represent New York by using designs from inspired by Grand Central. This told us Blake was really channelling her inner Serena Van der woodsen and we are totally here for it!
Rihanna
Queen Riri’s showstopping look in 2015 definitely deserved a spot in our favourite Met Gala looks. Her dress was designed by Guo Pei, took 2 years to make and although Rihanna was nervous to display her stunning look, we are so glad she did.
Harry Styles
Harry Styles just never fails to disappoint. Period. Being a co-host for the Met in 2019 gave us high expectations for his look but this shirt designed by Gucci’s Alessandro Michelle definitely served. To top it all off, Harry’s look defied all gender stereotypes proving once again that fashion isn’t universal.
Cher
Throwing it back to 1974, we have a gorgeous look by none other than the ‘Goddness of Pop’ Cher. She is wearing a dress designed by Bob Mackie and it’s safe to say she looks incredible. Not sure if we could pull this one off … but from the feathers to the sequins, this look definitely went over and above for the Met.
Hailey Bieber
Hailey Bieber was truly giving Barbie in 2019 with her look designed head to toe by Alexander Wang. Her dress and make up were both flawless and with this pose, Hailey was certainly keeping an eye out for Selena.
We're super excited to see what the stars rock at this years Met Gala, check back for more updates!
